This is a website where I will post stuff that relate to the elements of constructing a space colony, most of which will be oriented towards a specific design that I have in mind - Principia. Space exploration is a fascinating field and I cannot describe how happy it makes me whenever I imagine, conceptualize, and design systems that may one day become reality. That being said, I will try to incorporate general information, calculations, and fundamental ideas for future reference, and so that you as a reader may also be inspired to make your own creations.
Be sure to check out News & Updates for available content, as this site is still very much WIP.
The Colony
Principia is a self-sustaining space colony in orbit around Mars that supports around 12,000 residents, set in the near future. The goal is to sustain human life in space with as little resources from Earth and other locations (if they exist) as possible, while guaranteeing safety, and high quality of life.
The technologies used in Principia are all based on reality. Sources will be referenced and linked when possible. With that said, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to establish a large-scale space colony with pre-2020 technologies, so reasonable enhancements will be included as necessary.
